FREE SHIPPING ON 10LB BAGS! Waterfowl Food Plots! New! Attract and hold more waterfowl to your property with the addition of waterfowl food sources. Water is essential but then add the food and watch the birds come in. People have been planting food plots for pheasants, deer and turkeys for years...why not food plots for waterfowl too! "Of all the ponds that I duck hunt in, I see and harvest more ducks from my wild rice ponds than I do any of the other ponds. It is definately the food that attracts the ducks!" Harvested locally in the Midwest. Due to being seasonable, please place orders in advance to assure availability. IMPORTANT - Wild rice is an annual which means that it reseeds itself each year. In the northern states where water temps reach 33 to 35 degrees, rice will naturally "cold stratify" (required for germination) but will not cold stratify in southern states. For southern states we recommend securing rice from us in the spring (we cold stratified)and treating your rice plantings as an annual seeding project. From the reports that we have received from our customers in Georgia to Texas, they are getting great results and are excited to plant their rice every spring! SEED BED: prefers mucky bottoms WATER DEPTH: 12 to 48 inches Flowing water is not required as is popular myth. SEEDING RATE: 25 - 50 lbs. per acre of proper water depth. Any reduced rates should include expectations of a thinner stand. PLANTING is easy! Simply reach in the bag and broadcast by hand throwing it over the desired seeding area. "FALL RICE" is delivered in September thru November until ice-over. NORTHERN ORDERS ONLY "SPRING RICE" is delivered in April thru May before ice over and after ice out. NORTHERN AND SOUTHERN ORDERS SECURE EARLY as we harvest from the wild and there are limited amounts. ** Make sure to select the correct delivery date below...either "FALL" or "SPRING" ** When you receive your rice, we recommend the following: 1. Keep rice shaded and in a cool place. When transporting, cover rice from sun and heat. 2. Install rice as soon as possible for best results. We will coordinate with you on a shipping time once you place an order. It is important to be available to receive the rice on the scheduled delivery days. 3. If you have to store your rice for a day or two, cut small slits in bag and soak in a tub, cooler or garbage can of spring water or pond water...do not use treated city water. Note - Wild Rice smells REALLY bad but it is not rotten...rather it is a natural process. You may want to wear wadders or old clothes during installation just in case you get a good splash of "rice water" on you. (smile) * We can ship anywhere in the USA! "Just wanted to let you know the seed arrived Friday with no problems. I stored it in the basement over the weekend, and it is going in the water tomorrow. I appreciate your great service and advice. I'll let you know how it does down here in North Carolina. Thanks!" - Brian F., NC "Your giant wild rice came in great! I ordered more for this year to seed down the rest of the pond. The ducks loved it! Thanks again." - Jim C., MN ** IMPORTANT...Each year we have a limited inventory. We will fill orders by first come first serve. Any orders not filled at that time will have the option of a refund or lock in for the fall harvest. If you are interested in rice, I would recommend getting your order in as soon as possible to have a better chance of getting some. ** There are NO guarantees with aquatic products as there are many variables...water quality, water chemistry, substrate, fish, predation, etc. We do guarantee the quality of our products, but have no control over your site conditions.
