FREE SHIPPING WATERFOWL FOOD PLOTS / DUCK FOOD SMARTWEED Perennial native that waterfowl love. Easy to establish and comes back with disturbance of the soil. Native all across the US. Requires dry to moist ground to plant and grow. Do not flood until seeds have "hardened up". Can be established on mud flats and along pond edges as well. Smartweed is a "disturbance" species...meaning it come back each year if it is disturbed in some way. Aggressive dragging or light discing is often the best means to disturb the soil and stimulate the germination of Smartweed. For the initial planting, scatter the seed over the area you want to plant...preferably mud flats or ground that will be flooded later on. Then drag or lightly disc to disturbe the seed/seedbed and incorporate the seed slightly. That should be all you need for the first year. The following years, drag or lightly disc the site in the spring to disturbe the site again. Rate: 15 to 20 lbs. per acre if broadcast Limited quantities each year as we harvest from native ponds FREE SHIPPING
